  • Grossly, it is a small, well-encapsulated, spherical or discoid mass.
  • Microscopically, it comprises mostly fibrous tissue and can show two types of patterns: intracanalicular and peri-canalicular.
  • Variants include tubular adenoma, lactating adenoma, and juvenile fibroadenoma.
  • Fibroadenoma may be part of fibrocystic disease and is termed fibroadenomatosis.
  • Giant fibroadenoma lacks the histologic features of cyst sarcoma phyllodes.
