Enculturation
- Enculturation is the process by which people learn the requirements of their surrounding culture and acquire values and behaviors appropriate or necessary in that culture.
- It's a conscious and unconscious conditioning process whereby an individual achieves competence in their culture, internalizes their culture, and becomes thoroughly enculturated.
Socialization
- Socialization is a necessity for developing oneself as a person.
- It's the process of learning one's society and its culture through interacting, mingling, and being with other people or groups within/outside of one's society.
- Socialization is crucial for learning culturally accepted behavior and knowledge, and it's a continuing process throughout one's life.
Agents of Socialization
- Family is the first agent of socialization, influencing habits, manners, beliefs, and the way one thinks.
- School is another agent of socialization, where one interacts with teachers, classmates, and administrators, shaping behavior and attitude to become a better member of society.
