The Brain
The brain is the command center of the nervous system, responsible for higher cognitive functions like thinking, reasoning, emotions, and memory. It's a soft, spongy organ, about 3 pounds in weight, and is divided into two hemispheres: the left and right cerebral hemispheres. These are further subdivided into specific regions, each specialized for different tasks, such as motor control, sensory processing, learning, and memory.
The Spinal Cord
The spinal cord is a long, slender tube of nervous tissue that extends from the base of the brain down the back, protecting the nerve roots that transmit signals to and from the brain. It's responsible for relaying messages between the brain and the rest of the body, controlling basic body functions like reflexes and coordinating muscle movements.
Neurons

Sensory System
