Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Sex
- Sexual Orientation describes who someone is attracted to—opposite gender (heterosexual), same gender (homosexual), both genders (bisexual), all genders (pansexual), or not attracted to any gender (asexual), or attracted to multiple types of gender (polysexual).
- Gender Identity is a person's internal sense of being a man, woman, both, neither, or another gender. Different from sex assigned at birth.
- Sex refers to biological characteristics—male or female. There are variations outside of male and female, with intersex individuals having a mix of male and female biological characteristics.
