Two Bengali writers have won the Nobel Prize in Literature:

Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941) received the Nobel Prize in 1913 for his work Gitanjali. Tagore was a poet, novelist, and playwright who is celebrated as the national poet of India. Some of his most famous works include Gitanjali, Gora, and The Home and the World.
Amartya Sen (b. 1933) won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1998. Sen is a renowned economist and philosopher who has written extensively on development, democracy, and human rights.
