English Language
The English language is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Saxon England around 5th century AD. It has since evolved through various stages into the modern form of the language spoken today. Old English (c. 5th–11th centuries)
Old English was the language used in early medieval England between the late 5th and the mid-11th centuries. At this time, it underwent significant changes due to the invasions by the Celtic Britons, the Nordic Danes, and the French Normans.
Middle English (11th–15th centuries)
Middle English started after the Norman Conquest in 1066 and lasted until the Late Middle English period, which ended around 1500. During this time, many new words were introduced into the English language from Latin, Greek, Italian, and French.
Early Modern English (15th–18th centuries)
Early Modern English began with the printing press in the late 15th century and continued until the end of the 18th century. This period saw the standardization of spelling and grammar rules, though there were still variations among regional dialects.
