What is an Image?
- An image is a representation of a person or thing's external form
- Images can be 2-dimensional (photographs, screen displays) or 3-dimensional (statues, holograms)
- Images can be captured by optical devices (cameras, mirrors, lenses, telescopes, microscopes) or by natural phenomena (human eye, water)
Graphics
- Graphics are visual images or designs on a surface (wall, canvas, screen, paper, stone)
- Graphics can be used to inform, illustrate, or entertain

Image Format
