- Lake Emergency Dispatch is a Secondary PSAP located in Lake County in the City of Tavares.
- All requests for EMS or Fire Services in Lake County are processed by the 911 Emergency Dispatch Center.
- Enhanced 911 is being utilized in Lake County and is processed by using a computer-aided dispatch system.
- Lake Emergency Dispatch is accredited by The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) utilizing structured protocols through caller interrogation to provide dispatch life support instructions to all callers for Emergency Medical and Fire Dispatch.
- The Emergency Medical Dispatcher will dispatch the closest available unit(s).
- This protocol will be activated by the Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director, or their designee should a potential wide-spread contagion be identified.
- Appropriate PPE should be donned prior to patient contact if the patient triages positive through Dispatch.
- If the suspected contagion has a respiratory component, the patient should have a reverse-precaution patient mask applied.
- Treatment should be focused on symptom management, activation of an “Isolation Alert”, and personal protection.
- Patients positive for an “Isolation Alert” will not be transported to a Free-Standing Emergency Department.
- It is the responsibility of all field personnel to make sure that equipment and patient contact surfaces are decontaminated immediately at the end of the call.
- Appropriate hand washing and appropriate personal hygiene are paramount in preventing the spread of disease.
