Electricity Ordinance and Rules
- The Electricity Ordinance and Rules, 1999, are cited as Swk.L.N. 84/99.
- The Rules are arranged into parts, including Preliminary, Installation, and others.
Installation
- Licensing and registration of installation are required.
- An application for a licence must be made, and the procedure involves approval and inspection.
- A Certificate of Registration of installation is issued after approval.
- The installation can be inspected and tested, and the Certificate of Registration can be cancelled.
Supervision and Test of Installation
- Approval is required for commencement of wiring.
- Portable apparatus on a dredge or floating structure must operate at a voltage not exceeding 50 volts between conductors.
- Portable apparatus used in certain situations must be connected to the main in a specific manner.
Installation of Electric Sign
- No circuit for an electric sign shall use voltage exceeding 7,500 volts to earth.
- An effective means of disconnection or isolation is required for safe repair and maintenance.
- The switch used for controlling the circuit must be of the double-pole type and of sufficient current rating.
General Requirements of Installation
