Three Kingdoms of Ancient Egypt

- Middle Kingdom: A large drainage project expanded arable farmland. Traders had contact with the Middle East and Crete. Corruption and rebellions were common. The Hyksos invaded and occupied the delta region.
- New Kingdom: Powerful pharaohs created a large empire reaching the Euphrates River. Hatshepsut encouraged trade. Tutankhamen was a boy-king. Ramses II expanded Egyptian control to Syria. Egyptian power declined.
