Duties of Bridge Officials
- The Assistant Bridge Engineer is generally responsible for the maintenance and safety of all bridges under his charge.
- He is responsible for the accuracy, quality, and progress of new works and controls all expenditure related to budget allowance.
Inspection of Bridges
- The Assistant Bridge Engineer shall inspect every bridge, including road over bridges, once a year by a specified date.
- The inspection shall cover foundation and substructures, protective works, bearings, and expansion joints of bridges and approaches, including Judith gates and other apertures.
- He shall also inspect the overall general condition of bridge works, including special attention to places vulnerable to corrosion.
General Condition of Bridge Works
- The Assistant Bridge Engineer shall ensure the general condition of bridge works, including bridges, culverts, and other structures, is maintained.
- He shall pay special attention to places prone to corrosion and take necessary measures to prevent further corrosion.
