Divisibility Rules

  • A number is divisible by 2 if it ends in an even digit (0, 2, 4, 6, or 8).

  • To determine if a number is divisible by 3, sum all of its digits. If the resulting sum is divisible by 3, then the original number is also divisible by 3.

  • A number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits form a number that is divisible by 4.

  • A number is divisible by 5 if it ends in either 0 or 5.

  • For divisibility by 9, sum all of the digits of the number. If this sum is divisible by 9, the original number is also divisible by 9.
