Liver Cirrhosis

Definition: Chronic diffuse liver disease characterized by:
- Degeneration and necrosis of liver cells
- Regeneration forming nodules which lack the normal lobular pattern
- Diffuse fibrosis
Microscopic Picture of Liver Cirrhosis
- Liver shows complete loss of normal lobular pattern
- Liver consists of regenerating nodules separated by fibrous tissue septa
- Regenerating nodules show absent or eccentric central veins
- Liver cells may be:
- Small
- Enlarged
- Binucleated
- Degenerated
- Necrotic
- Fibrous septa are infiltrated by lymphocytes and show proliferation
Inflammations of the Male Genital System
- Orchitis: inflammation of the testes caused by infections, autoimmune disease, or trauma
- Symptoms of orchitis:
