Flashcards
Difficult Airway
Difficult Airway
An airway is considered difficult when it's predicted that standard intubation techniques will be challenging.
Difficult Airway Algorithm
Difficult Airway Algorithm
This is a structured approach for managing airways that are predicted to be difficult. It involves a series of decision points based on the patient's condition.
Call for Assistance

Difficult Airway Algorithm
- Difficult airway predicted: Initiate the algorithm if a difficult airway is anticipated.
- Call for assistance: Alert additional personnel if a difficult airway is predicted..
- Forced to act? A decision point for if they should force intubation.
- No: Proceed to giving RSI drugs.
- Yes: Proceed to failure to maintain oxygenation steps.
- Failure to maintain oxygenation?
- No: Proceed with checking if BMV or EGD is predicted to be successful.
