Data Acquisition Methods
- Integrated Approach: Accounting data directly from S/4HANA is dynamically read into group reporting. No separate file transfer is needed.
- File Upload: Data is transferred as a flat file. This can involve Excel spreadsheets converted to a flat file format.
- SAP S/4HANA Finance for Group Reporting Data Collection (GRDC): Allows loading or manual input of financial and non-financial data, along with comments, for subsidiaries in group reporting.
Data Release Logic
- Release Process: Releases financial data from the SAP S/4HANA accounting system to the group reporting system. Data is released only once per FI document, tracked via timestamp.
- Universal Journal Releases: Multiple releases are allowed within a period for the universal journal. Only documents posted before release are included in consolidation.
- Accounting Period Locking: Locking the accounting period before releasing data is crucial. This prevents additional postings from impacting consolidation.
- Data Handling in Subsequent Periods: Data not released in a period is ignored. It can be released in a later accounting period.
Flexible Upload Options
- Non-Integrated Companies: Provides a flexible upload method for companies not integrated with S/4HANA. Upload method can be assigned in master data of the non-integrated consolidation unit or selected during the Data Collection task.
- Integrated Companies and Flexible Upload: Flexible upload method can also be used for integrated companies.
- Additional Post-Upload Tasks: The Calculate Net Income task is essential after upload, as annual net income and retained earnings might not be included directly in the upload file.
GRDC Data Upload Options
- Data Upload Options: GRDC allows data upload for ACDOCU table.
- Manual Input: Data can be manually entered into the ACDOCU table via input forms.
- Data Mapping: Crucial for automating data mapping, transforming data, and transferring it from various sources (SAP and non-SAP systems) into the ACDOCU table.
- Data Collection Forms: Pre-delivered or custom-built forms assist with manual data entry and comments in ACDOCU. The task status in the data monitor is automatically updated for the relevant consolidation units.
External Data Transfer
- API Integration: External accounting systems (SAP or non-SAP) can send data to group reporting via APIs (Advanced Programming Interfaces). Multiple APIs are available for group reporting.
