Defining Moments
- A Defining Moment is any time a customer judges the service provided, and by extension, the organization as a whole.
- Examples include greeting a customer, asking a question, answering a question, offering options, trying to solve a problem, or recovering from a service breakdown.
- Each defining moment creates either a positive or negative experience for the customer, influencing customer loyalty.
- Positive defining moments build customer loyalty.
- A series of positive defining moments creates a positive, memorable customer experience (PMCE).
Customer Expectations
- Regardless of the industry, product, or service type, customers consistently value four service qualities.
- Seamless service refers to managing service factors invisible to the customer (behind the scenes). Customers want to take advantage of available services without complicated details or multiple people.
- Trustworthy service means keeping promises dependably and accurately. Customers want to feel confident and secure in the service provided.
The HEAL Guidelines
- When customers are disappointed or angry, quick action is necessary to regain trust.
- Hear the customer out; listen non-defensively and calmly.
- Ease the tension by choosing productive actions to de-escalate.
- Act to improve the situation and fix the problem promptly. Confirm the customer's understanding of the resolution and apologize when appropriate.
- Leave a positive impression and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction and commitment with a goodwill gesture.

- CAP programs provide individual, group, and family counseling, victim intervention, and prevention education.

- SECO consultants guide military spouses in careers, education, and training, and employment readiness.

- MyCAA provides financial assistance for licensure, certification, or associate degrees.

- Resume building and interview preparation are key for obtaining job interviews.
- FFSCs help ensure resumes accurately reflect skills and abilities.

Transition Assistance Program (TAP)
- TAP prepares eligible service members and their families for civilian life transition.

- Initial self-assessment counseling (IC) is a mandatory component within 365 days of separation, focused on employment, entrepreneurship education, or vocational training paths.

- Consider appropriate actions if someone displays distress or suicidal ideation.
- The CDC and Navy resources provide risk factors, preventative steps, and available support.

Clinical Counseling
