    Multicultural Competence

    • Multicultural competence is an individual's ability to step outside their cultural boundary to make the strange familiar and the familiar strange, and to act on that change of perspective (Johnson et al., 2006).

    Intercultural Sensitivity

    • Intercultural sensitivity is the level of awareness of cultural differences and the ability to react appropriately in different cultural contexts.

    • An interculturally sensitive person has an interest in others and understands their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors (Bennett, 1986; Bucker and Poutsma, 2010).

    Global Mindset

    • A global mindset involves openness to and articulation of multiple cultural and strategic realities on both global and local levels.

    • Key traits include curiosity, acceptance of complexity, diversity consciousness, an extended time perspective, and systems thinking.

    Cosmopolitanism

    • Cosmopolitan orientation (CO) consists of three essential qualities: cultural openness, global pro-sociality, and respect for cultural diversity (Leung, Koh, and Tan, 2015).
