Résumé Overview

  • A résumé is an advertisement for an applicant, providing a snapshot of their life and showcasing their eligibility for a job position.
  • A résumé is not a biography, but rather an executive summary of the applicant's life.

Parts of a Résumé

  • The parts of a résumé can be rearranged according to purpose, but the following format is recommended:
    • Picture: A 2 x 2 ID picture, normally placed in the upper-right corner of the first page, wearing formal attire, with a white or formal background.
    • Personal Information: Placed opposite the picture, including name, current residence/mailing address, mobile and/or home number, and e-mail address, which must be updated at all times.

Essential Sections

  • Objective: A declarative statement that indicates the applicant's purpose in applying, focusing on how the company will benefit from the applicant's skills.
  • Work Experience: A list of previous jobs, summarized and arranged from latest to oldest.
  • Educational Attainment: A list of education history, from elementary to tertiary, listed from latest to oldest.
  • Skills: A list of professional and related skills, including talents, sports, and other skills that may be advantageous.
  • Achievements: A list of medals, awards, certificates, and other recognition, listed in a latest-oldest arrangement.

Additional Sections
