Principles of Delimitation
- Constituencies for general seats should be delimited considering population distribution in geographically compact areas, physical features, existing administrative unit boundaries, communication facilities, public convenience, and other relevant factors to ensure homogeneity.
- Variation in population of constituencies should not exceed 10% unless exceptional cases require otherwise.
Delimiting Constituencies
- The Election Commission may receive and consider representations, hold inquiries, summon witnesses, and record evidence to delimit constituencies.
- A preliminary report and list of constituencies specifying the areas to be included in each constituency will be published in the official Gazette.
- Representations can be made within 30 days of publication.
Electoral Rolls
- The Registration Officer prepares electoral rolls under the Election Commission's superintendence, directions, and control.
