Consent for Treatment
- Expressed Consent: Patient verbally or nonverbally agrees to treatment, must be of legal age
- Informed Consent: Patient understands treatment and allows it to happen
- Implied Consent: Implied if conscious person would consent to care
- Consent for Minors: Must wait for legal guardian, except in emergency situations
- Consent of Mentally Ill: Section 12, danger to self or others, use MOLST form
Airway, Breathing, Circulation (ABCs)
- Function of Respiratory System: Provide oxygen, remove carbon dioxide
- Diaphragm separates chest and abdomen
- Head Tilt Chin Lift and Jaw Thrust Maneuver open airways
- Oral Airways: For unconscious patients without gag reflex
- Signs of Breathing: 12-20 breaths per minute
Arrival on Scene
- Perform Visual Survey of Scene
- Provide Verbal Picture to Desk Officer
