- The ASP Breakaway subcap is intended for lifesaving vehicle extraction, such as an infant in a locked vehicle.
- When feasible, officers should advise a supervisor of the incident and obtain approval before breaching the vehicle's window.
- Officers must generate an information report after using the Breakaway subcap on a vehicle's window.
- Officers should don personal protective equipment when feasible to protect themselves from injuries that may occur during vehicle breaching.
