Discipline Plan Overview

All teachers at Civilizations implement the Discipline Plan jointly, enhancing students' perception of teacher empowerment.

Classroom Discipline Procedure

Begin by writing a student's name on the board for disobedience, maintaining teaching flow.
For each subsequent infraction, place a tick next to the student's name, up to three ticks.
After three infractions, counsel the student; escalate to the coordinator or headmistress if needed.
after the fourth infraction, the student must call parents from the headmistress's office.
With headmistress approval, a warning is formally documented through a conference form.
Students may receive a two-day suspension by decision of the headmistress without committee consultation.
Longer suspensions require a signed letter by the teacher and headmistress, and approval in an admin meeting with key staff.
Expulsion follows a similar process as suspension for serious behavior issues.

Homework Policy

Indicate "Homework not done" in the notebook if assignments are incomplete.
Consistent failures prompt a written notice to parents regarding potential detention.
If issues persist, detain the student after school until 2:30 PM.

Uniform Enforcement

Address uniform violations directly with students; repetition is allowed as necessary.

Head Lice Regulations

Parents are responsible for managing head lice; school checks for infestation.
Teachers must assess head lice presence and issue warnings using a pro forma slip in student diaries.
Confirmed head lice cases result in student removal from class until resolved, with communication through diaries only.

Corridor Courtesy Expectations

Students must line up inside the classroom during transitions; ensure lights are off and the door is locked before exiting.
Transition students to module teachers responsibly, maintaining the same level of discipline outside the classroom.

Discipline Do’s and Don’ts

Exit passes should be readily available on the teacher's desk; students take passes without asking.
Encourage student independence by allowing them back into class without permission.
Focus on positive reinforcement, avoiding negative language.
Maintain a calm and composed demeanor, refraining from loud vocalization or disruptive actions to gain attention.
Address noise by standing in front of inattentive students and maintaining silence until the class calms.
Do not leave the classroom unattended; remain until the next teacher arrives.
