Class C Vehicle
- Defined as any motor vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 16,000 lbs and under 26,001 lbs, or towing another vehicle not exceeding 10,000 lbs.
Safety Inspections
- Required bi-annually, occurring every 6 months.
Registration ID Cards
- Must be present in the vehicle, held by the driver or individual controlling the vehicle at all times for second division vehicles, excluding pole trailers or semi-trailers.
Maximum Vehicle Height
- Legally set at 13 feet 6 inches across all highways.
Weigh Station Protocol
- Vehicles weighing 16,000 lbs or more must stop at official weighing stations.
Speed Limits in Illinois
- Maximum speed limit on interstate highways is 65 mph when posted.
Reflector Placement for Disabled Vehicles
- Reflectors must be placed as follows:
- 10 feet from the vehicle on the traffic side
- 100 feet from the vehicle towards approaching traffic

Class C Vehicles (Revisited)
- Class C also includes single motor vehicles with a GVWR of more than 16,000 lbs but below 26,001 lbs and allows towing of vehicles under 10,000 lbs, along with operation of Class D vehicles.
Class D Vehicles
- Includes any motor vehicle with a GVWR of 16,000 lbs or less, except those needing a Class A license due to their GVWR exceeding 26,001 lbs.
Class L Vehicles
- Refers to any motor-driven cycle with a displacement of less than 150cc.
Class M Vehicles
- Comprised of motorcycles or any motor-driven cycles.
Motor Fuel Tax Law Compliance
- Drivers must carry a valid card or authorized reproduction in the vehicle cab.
Intrastate Carriers Regulations
- Must have identifying signs displayed on both sides of their vehicles, including trade name, permit number, and registration number, with specifications for letter size.
Tow Truck Identification
