Sikh Rituals

A significant part of Sikh heritage consists of rituals such as Amrit Sanchar – the initiation ceremony for baptized Sikhs, where they receive five K's: kesh (hair), kangha (comb), kara (steel bracelet), kachera (short underwear), and kirpan (sword). Another essential ritual is langar – community kitchen, emphasizing equality amongst all who attend Gurudwaras (Sikh places of worship) regardless of caste, creed, gender, or financial status.

Christian Rituals

Students explore Christian beliefs through rituals such as praying, attending church services, receiving communion, baptisms, funerals, and confessions. These activities serve to strengthen interpersonal relationships and enrich individual spirituality. For instance, participation in Mass, particularly during Easter time, demonstrates how important the act of resurrection is to Christians.

Islamic Rituals

The Islamic faith centers many crucial rituals, including praying five times per day, fasting during Ramadan, making pilgrimage to Mecca (known as Hajj), and giving zakat (alms) to those in need. By learning these practices, students contribute to their understanding of Islam as well as global cultural diversity.

Through studying diverse religious rituals, Class 7 DAV students develop holistic knowledge and appreciation of world religions. Such exposure imparts valuable lessons in compassion, tolerance, empathy, and encourages them to lead harmonious lives based upon mutual respect and cooperation.
