Myeloproliferative Disorders (MPD)
- MPD are a group of acquired, malignant disorders with common clinical and hematological features.
- Caused by excessive proliferation of both hematopoietic cells and fibroblasts in the bone marrow (BM).
- Characterized by a hypercellular BM with increased quantities of one or more cellular lineages.
Classification of MPD
- Distinguished by the predominant cell type involved:
- High granulocytes in CML
- High RBC in PV
- High Plt in ET
- High fibrosis in IMF
