Investigations

  • If investigator or supervisor unavailable, responding officer obtains information, completes a supplemental report, and sends it to the investigating officer

Investigator Responsibility

  • Undercover investigations are subject to guidelines prescribed by the Internet Crimes Against Children (see attachment), and require pre-approval by the Chief of Investigations or their designee
  • Any investigation involving child pornography should be brought to the attention of the investigating officer’s direct supervisor
  • Conducting an investigation involving illegal distribution or possession of child pornography from home, or any location that is not pre-approved, is not permissible
