Study Notes
Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education is responsible for conducting board exams through the state's open schools. These exams are conducted according to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) guidelines under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. In Chhattisgarh, students can enroll in the State Open Schools to complete their secondary education from class IX to X under various modes like regular or self-study basis, part time, correspondence course and distance learning programmes.
The examination pattern followed by the Chhattisgarh Rajya Open School consists of two papers—I and II, where Paper I focuses on general studies while Paper II deals with vocational subjects like Agriculture, Art & Craft, Computer Application, Fashion Designing, Horticulture etc., depending upon the choice of subject applied during the admission process. Each paper has 100 marks. Candidates must appear in both these papers to qualify for the certificate.
To ensure fairness in the evaluation process, there isn't any negative marking system; every question answered correctly will result into awarding full marks. Students have to secure minimum 33% passing marks in each paper separately. There won’t be any grace marks awarded to those who fail to achieve this benchmark.
In case candidates want to apply for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), they need to clear all the subjects in the respective classes between class XI and XII combined. A separate application form needs to be submitted and duly filled for this purpose. After successful completion, students receive a certificate stating that they passed the HSC Second Stage Examination.
