Disabled Sports
- Also known as Adaptive Sports or Adapted Sports, these are sports for individuals with disabilities.
- Can include physical and intellectual disabilities.
- Many are modified versions of able-bodied sports.
- Some disabled sports are uniquely created with no able-bodied counterparts, such as goalball and race running.
- Disabilities are categorized into physical, mental, permanent, and temporary.
Inclusion
- Involves welcoming all individuals into community settings like schools and recreation centers, regardless of perceived differences.
Inclusive Recreation
- Ensures individuals with disabilities can participate in recreational activities alongside able-bodied individuals.
Paralympic Games
- Major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities.
