Career Paths in Agriculture
- Agricultural Extension Officer: Provide information and advise on farming techniques, help implement programs for soil recovery, combat crop and animal diseases, train farmers on new technologies, advise on utilizing natural resources sustainably, and contribute to food security.
- Veterinary Officers: Maintain and promote animal health. Control animal movement through permits, provide clinical services like vaccinations and dosing, control notifiable diseases through quarantine, and conduct abattoir inspections.
- Farm Managers: Plan, organize, and manage farm activities. Responsibilities include marketing farm produce, budgeting and monitoring farm performance, keeping farm records, acquiring and maintaining tools and implements, supervising farm workers, and monitoring daily activities.
- Crop Protection Advisors: Monitor and assess progress in disease and pest prevention on farms. Understand different agricultural products, including pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides. Ensure crop products for import and export are disease-free and fit for consumption.
- Agricultural Sales Person: Advise farmers on improved products and sell agricultural inputs and equipment.
