Cardiac Arrest Actions
- A cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops beating and breathing becomes abnormal or stops.
- Without immediate action, death is likely.
Survival Steps
- Shout for help: Gently shake the person, and then check for breathing.
- Look for signs of breathing: Observe the person's chest for rising and falling.

- Do not leave the person: If you are alone, stay and help; continue until aid arrives.
- Start chest compressions: Interlock your fingers, place hands in the center of the chest, and push firmly and rhythmically (twice per second) until they are finished.
