Function of Rough ER (RER)

The RER is responsible for the production of proteins. Via the pore proteins, they end up in the ER, after which they are transported to the Golgi apparatus, where they are packed in transport vesicles.

Ribosomen

Ribosomen zijn macromoleculaire eiwitcomplexen die bestaan uit een grote en een kleine subeenheid.
Elke subeenheid is opgebouwd uit ribosomaal RNA (rRNA) en eiwitten.
Ribosomen kunnen vrij voorkomen in het cytoplasma of gebonden zijn aan het membraannetwerk van het RER.
De nucleolus is verantwoordelijk voor de aanmaak van rRNA en de opbouw van de kleine en grote subeenheid van de ribosomen.

Centriolen

Centriolen zijn cilinders die bestaan uit korte microtubuli.
Een centriolenpaar met errond eiwitten wordt een centrosoom genoemd.
Centriolen zijn belangrijk bij celdeling.
Bij celdeling verdubbelt het centriolenpaar zich en bevinden zich aan één kant van de delende cel.
Rond elk centriool vormt zich een structuur van microtubuli (uit cytoskelet) die de chromosomen vasthoudt tijdens de celdeling.
