Project Initiation Phase

  • Define the project's scope, the prerequisites, and assumptions.

Co-creating a Big Picture

  • Ensure everyone in the workshop has a shared understanding of the project's vision, goals, and objectives.

Identify Stakeholders

  • A stakeholder is someone who can influence the project, is impacted by the work, or has something to gain or lose from it.
  • It is vital to understand their requirements and interests.
  • The entire project team should create the stakeholder list, as opposed to a single person's opinion.

Identifying the Project Sponsor

  • The project sponsor can be one person or a group of people.
  • There are two main roles: the champion who benefits the most (the owner) and the one who allocates the budget.

Identify Target Stakeholders

  • Consider how their needs will be similar/different.

  • Typical stakeholder groups are:
    • Keep Informed: Low influence & low interest.
    • Consult: High interest but low influence.
    • Involve: High influence, but low interest.
