Branding
- Branding is a marketing practice where a company creates a name, symbol, or design easily identified as belonging to the company.
- It is about creating an identity that distinguishes a company from its competitors.
- Brand name: A name given by an entrepreneur to a particular product or service to differentiate it from similar products and services.
Brand Name Elements
- Brand names may include words, taglines, signs, symbols, logos, designs, or a combination of these.
- A brand's core value or promise of what will be delivered to or experienced by the customer. It creates associations and expectations amongst customers regarding products made by the company.
Brand Elements
- Name: A concise description of the brand.
- Logo: A symbol or design identifying the company and its products/services. Often includes symbols or stylized text.
- Color: Colors evoke feelings and associations. Specific colors are linked to certain meanings.
- Tagline: A catchy phrase briefly defining the brand. It should be memorable, easily said, and align with the brand's personality.
- Character: A special type of brand symbol, often animated or live-action, taking on human-like characteristics to enhance identification.
- Shape: The product's visual form, important in product design, often unique to a particular brand.
- Jingles: Musical messages promoting recognition and awareness of the brand.

Types of Brand Names
- Acronym: Formed from initial letters of the company’s name. Examples: IBM, BMW

- Emotional benefits: Kids ' fun, family times, linked to events, reinforced by emotional marketing. Symbols of stability and relaxation.
- A brand's identity is a combination of logo, color, shape etc, which communicate certain meanings to the consumer. Examples include coca-cola's red logo and script, which inspires confidence and enjoyment.

Different Branding Approaches
- Umbrella Brand Approach: Selling various associated products under one brand name. Example: Honda.
