    Categories of BMW (Schedule I)

    • Category 1: Human anatomical waste, disposed of through incineration.
    • Category 2: Animal waste, disposed of through incineration.
    • Category 3: Microbiological and biotechnology waste, disposed of through: • Chemical treatment or autoclaving or microwaving • Mutilation or shredding • Landfill or recyclers
    • Category 4: Wasted sharps, disposed of through: • Chemical treatment or destruction by needle or tip cutters or autoclaving or microwaving • Mutilation or shredding • Landfill or concrete sharps pit
    • Category 5: Discarded medicines and cytotoxic drugs, disposed of through landfill or incineration.
