Introduction to Biology
- Biology translates to the study of life, derived from Greek words "bios" (life) and "logos" (study).

Course Structure and Grading
- Total Grade Composition: Lecture constitutes 50%, Lab also 50%.
- Lecture exams: Four exams worth 10% each.
- Homework contributes 10% to overall grade.
- Lab components include reports, prelab exercises, notebooks, participation, homework, and quizzes.
Exam Information
- Scheduled exam dates: 09/24, 10/24, 11/19, 12/17 (final week, 10:30-12:30 PM).
- Make-up exams are not available; missing one exam results in a cumulative final worth 20% of the lecture grade.
- Missing two or more exams/lab quizzes results in an automatic F for the course.
Homework Assignments
- Weekly assignments of 1-3 per chapter with Adaptive Quiz/Smartbook component and a Homework Quiz following class.
- Homework quizzes roughly consist of 10 questions and are graded for accuracy.
- Assignments automatically submit at the deadline, providing feedback and allowing for study attempts.
