Study Notes
BERDE Green Building Rating System
- The BERDE Professionals Basic Training Course is delivered in cooperation with the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd).
- The training course is under continuous development and has been reviewed and approved by the BERDE Committee.
Session 2.2 Objectives
- The session objectives include learning about the process for assessment, rating, and certification for BERDE, and the responsibilities of the project team and assessment team in the process.
- The session also covers sample assessment reports.
Certification Process
- The certification process involves the project team and assessment team.
- The project team is responsible for managing the administrative end of the certification process, communicating with the MR and GBP, and coordinating with consulting assessors and subject matter experts.
- The assessment team is responsible for conducting the assessment and ensuring the consistency and effective implementation of BERDE.
Certification Roles
- The Certification Manager (CM) manages the administrative end of the certification process.
- The Lead Assessor manages the activities of internal assessors and ensures the consistency and effective implementation of BERDE.
- The Lead Assessor is directly employed by the PHILGBC and has years of experience in conducting assessments for projects.
Registration
- Registration is a requirement for the certification process.
- The project team must submit a project registration application, sign the BERDE Certification Proposal, and pay the registration and initial assessment fees.
- The CM will notify the MR thirty (30) working days before the renewal date for registration.
- To renew registration, the project team must send a notice to the CM and pay the registration renewal fee.
Assessments
- Stage 2 — Construction is one of the assessment stages.
- The project will be awarded a Stage 2 Certification when the project has complied with all Minimum System Requirements and received at least the minimum score for a rating.
- The Stage 2 Certification is valid for five (5) years from the date of certification.
- The scoresheet is used to indicate the project information, select the project type, and enter the date of accomplishment.
BERDE Professionals Basic Training Course
- The training course is delivered in cooperation with the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) and is under continuous development.
- The course has been reviewed and approved by the BERDE Committee.
Session 3.1 Objectives
- Learn about project management-related strategies that support the efficiency of projects.
- Learn about credits under the Management category of BERDE.
MN-05 Staff Training
- Compliance notes:
- List of all employees for the project.
- Training calendar.
- Training report for each training conducted.
- Training module.
- Report on the computation of the percentage of employees that successfully completed trainings.
MN-06 Green Building Education
- Purpose and intent:
- Establish an education program for users on the green building strategies and solutions featured in the project.
- Educate users on the green building features of the project through experiential learning.
- Evaluate the implementation of the education program to identify further opportunities to highlight the green building features of the project.
MN-07 Tenant Design and Construction Management Requirements
- Stage 1 — Design:
- Establish a policy requiring tenants to comply with the tenant design and construction guidelines.
- Establish a tenant design and construction guideline.
- Stage 2 — Construction:
- Implement the tenant design and construction guidelines.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the guidelines.
- Stage 3 — Operations:
- Establish a policy requiring tenants to comply with the tenant design and construction guidelines.

- Required documents:
- Documented policies and procedures for tenant design and construction.
