Basketball Activities Rules
- Basketball rim height is 10 ft
- Free throw line is 15 ft
- Three-point line is 19'9"
- Baskets inside the 3-point arc are worth 2 points
- Regulation basketball is played 5v5, in class 3v3 or 4v4
- Traveling: moving without dribbling to gain an advantage
- Double dribble: dribbling with two hands, or stopping then starting
- Pivot: keeping one foot in place while moving the other
- Foul: illegal contact with opponent
- Take Back (half-court): defense must take ball behind 3-point arc after possession change to try scoring
- Winners Outs (half-court): scoring team gets ball again
- Check Up: after a made basket or dead ball, ball is checked at top of 3-point line area by passing to defensive player. Defensive player tosses ball back when ready
- Fouled while shooting: basket counts if made
- Passes: chest and bounce pass are most used
- Catching: hands ready
- Shooting: elbow in, knees bent, eye on target, follow through
Soccer Activities
- Every goal is worth 1 point
- Regulation soccer has 11 players
- Indoor soccer has line changes
- Players cannot use their hands during play
- No out-of-bounds in PE class
- Players use their instep to kick the ball
- Players use other body parts (head, chest) besides hands/arms to control the ball
- Goalies can use hands inside the goal box
- Goal scored when ball goes between cones and hits the blue mat
- Rough play results in ejection (yellow card warning, red card ejection)

- Defensive player cannot touch a wide receiver if they go five yards
- Blocking in the back is not allowed
- Defense wins championships
Volleyball Activities
- Each team gets 3 hits
- A player can touch the ball only once before another teammate hits it
- Pass/bump is used when ball is below waist
- Set is used when ball is above head
- Spike is a powerful hit at the net
- Serve starts the game. Must be one-hand (underhand or overhand)
- Ball can hit the net during serve and play
- Players can play off the net
- Illegal ball contact: hitting the net with a body part counts as a point for the other team
- A player cannot hit the ball twice in a row
- A ball that hits the ground inbounds on your side gives the other team a point
- Ball touching the boundary line is inbounds
- Clockwise rotation
Kickball Rules
- Kickball uses a large rubber ball
- Kickball is similar to baseball, but you kick
- Diamond shaped field with 4 bases (infield/outfield)
- Player positions are similar
- Balls rolled toward homeplate (kicker) to be hit.
- Catchable ball thrown to teammate: kicker is out
- Ball in bounds: gold monster as a no touch zone.
- Game ends when time runs out or ball is lost
- Team with more points wins
Tennis Rules
- Tennis racket, tennis ball, net (3 ft 6 inches)
- Tennis scoring (love, 15, 30, 40, deuce, advantage, game)
- Server must be behind serving line
- Ball must land in appropriate service box
- Player gets one fault
- If the ball hits the net but lands in the correct box: let or redo
- Serve underhand
