Ballroom Dancing Terminology
- The Wall: The wall closest to the dancers as they move counter-clockwise along the line of dance.
- The Center: The center of the dance floor, and the relative center, which is the alignment directly opposite the wall.
- The Line of Dance: An imaginary line representing the counter-clockwise flow of traffic around the dance floor.
What to Wear
- Formal: Gentlemen wear bow tie, tailcoat, tuxedo or full suit. Ladies should wear ball gowns with elbow-length gloves, evening gowns, or cocktail gowns.
