Social Media and Its Impact
- Social media has transformed communication, information access, and global event participation.
- Key platforms include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Concerns surrounding social media include the spread of misinformation, cyberbullying, privacy violations, and addiction and mental health impacts.
E-commerce and Digital Payments
- E-commerce involves buying and selling goods and services online.
- Digital payments include online transactions (e.g. PayPal, credit cards), mobile payments (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay), and cryptocurrencies (e.g. Bitcoin).
- Benefits of e-commerce and digital payments include convenience, global accessibility, increased efficiency, and job creation.
- Concerns include security risks, data privacy, and inequality in access to digital infrastructure.
Newton's First Law
- Also known as the Law of Inertia, which states that an object will maintain its state of motion unless acted upon by an external force
- An object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will continue to move with a constant velocity, unless a force is applied
- A force is required to change the motion of an object, and this law applies to all objects, big or small
Inertia
- The tendency of an object to resist changes in its motion, which is a measure of its mass
- More massive objects have more inertia, making it more difficult to change their motion
- Inertia can be observed in three ways:
- Resistance to change in motion
- Maintaining velocity
- Maintaining direction
Conservation of Momentum
- The total momentum of a closed system remains constant over time, according to the law of conservation of momentum
- Momentum is the product of an object's mass and velocity (p = mv)
- In a closed system, the total momentum before a collision or interaction is equal to the total momentum after the collision or interaction
- Conservation of momentum applies to all interactions, including collisions, explosions, and other types of motion, and has many practical applications in fields such as physics, engineering, and astronomy
