Acoustics is the branch of physics concerned with the properties of sound.
Architectural Acoustics is the effect of building design on the control of sound in buildings, encompassing two types of sound control: Acoustical Environment and Isolation of Unwanted Sounds.

Involves positioning sound sources with respect to the listeners and arranging appropriate absorptivity or reflectivity levels for all interior levels.
Ensures that the sound sources are positioned correctly in relation to the listeners and that the interior surfaces have the right amount of absorption or reflection.

Involves insulating building occupants from intrusive noise.
Ensures that unwanted sounds are kept out of quiet areas, preventing disturbance and disruption.

Planning to keep noise sources as far as possible from quiet areas.
The internal acoustics of rooms, considering the arrangement of sound sources and surfaces.
Structural and natural precautions to reduce noise penetration, such as using insulation and soundproofing materials.

Light or visible light is electromagnetic radiation that can be perceived by the human eye.

Architectural lighting design is concerned with the design of lighting systems within the built environment, both interior and exterior.
Involves the manipulation and design of both daylight and electric light to serve human needs.
Lighting systems should consider how much light is required to see, how the lights should look, and what appearance the structure and space should have when rendered by light.

Integration of lighting with architecture, acoustics, structural concerns, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and graphic and signage of the space.
Lighting has thermal and visual aspects, with one watt of lighting producing heat gain in space.
Reducing electricity for lighting through the use of daylighting.
The total lighting cost of an installation should be studied from a lifecycle viewpoint, including installation, energy, relamping, cleaning, and repair.
