Building Technology 4: Specifications Writing and Quantity Surveying

    • Course objectives: classify different divisions in new and old Master Formats, identify general and site requirements, distinguish between works under general and site requirements, and implement estimating methods.

    Master Format and Specifications Writing

    • Master Format: a standardized format for specifications, developed by Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
    • Master Format is organized into 16 divisions based on interrelationship of material, trade, or function.

    • Division 02: Site Requirements
    • Master Format provides a fixed framework for organization of specifications.
