Study Notes
Biceps Brachii Muscle
- Origin: Long head—Radial supraglenoid tubercle of humerus; Short head: tip of coracoid process of scapula
- Insertion: Radial tuberosity, fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
- Nerve Supply: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)
- Action: Supinates forearm; Flexes forearm when supinated
Coracobrachialis Muscle
- Origin: Tip of coracoid process of scapula
- Insertion: Middle third of medial surface of humerus
- Nerve Supply: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6, C7)
- Action: Flexes and adducts arm
Brachialis Muscle
- Origin: Distal half of anterior surface of humerus
- Insertion: Coronoid process and tuberosity of ulna
- Nerve Supply: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)
- Action: Flexes forearm
Blood Supply
- Biceps brachii, coracobrachialis and brachialis muscles are supplied by muscular branches of brachial artery.
- Brachialis is additionally supplied by radial recurrent artery.
