The manubrium of the sternum is part of the bony framework of the neck and thorax.

Articulation with Costal Cartilages

The lower end of the lateral border of the manubrium has a demifacet for articulation with the upper half of the anterior end of the second costal cartilage.
The inferior end of the body of the sternum has a demifacet for articulation with the upper demifacet on the seventh costal cartilage.

Xiphoid Process
