Central Body Parts
- The central part of the body comprises the head and trunk.
Head
- The head includes the skull, which encases the brain.
- Facial features of the head consist of the eyes, forehead, ears, nose, cheeks, mouth, and chin.
Neck and Chest
- The neck connects the head to the trunk.
- The chest, or sternal area, is located anteriorly below the ribs and includes the breast region.
- The navel (belly button) marks the central point of the abdomen.
Pelvis and Limbs
- The pelvis contains the genital area and connects the trunk to the lower limbs.
- The back and shoulder regions include the spine and the area between the ribs and hips.
- Extremities refer to the limbs: upper arms, forearms, wrists, and hands as well as thighs, legs, ankles, and feet.
Upper Body Features
- The highest point of the shoulders is the acromion.
- The axillary region refers to the area around the upper arm, with the anterior surface of the elbow being the front side.
Lower Body Features
- The groin is located where the abdomen meets the thigh.
- The buttocks constitute the posterior aspect of the hip region.
- The thigh connects the hip to the knee, with the anterior and posterior surfaces indicating the front and back of the knee joint.
Lower Leg and Foot
