    Study Notes

    Calibration

    • After SPAN calibration, the instrument displays "SPAN COMB/EX O2 COMB/EX O2 PASS" or "SPAN ERR" along with the label of any failed sensor, then returns to Measuring mode.
    • The calibration procedure adjusts the span value for sensors that pass the calibration test, while sensors that fail remain unchanged.

    Finishing Calibration

    • Close the valve on the regulator after calibration.
    • Remove the calibration cap after calibration.
    • The instrument may briefly go into an exposure alarm after calibration due to residual gas.

    Autocalibration Failure

    • If the instrument cannot calibrate one or more sensors, it goes to the SPAN ERR page and remains in alarm until the user presses the button.
    • Sensors that fail calibration are indicated by flashing sensor icons.
    • If the combustible sensor fails calibration, replace it.

    Maintenance

    • Use displayed error codes to determine next steps in case of an error during operation.

    Installing Sensors

    • Insert the toxic sensor in the left-hand position of the sensor holder.
    • Insert the O2 sensor in the middle position of the sensor holder.
    • Insert the combustible sensor in the right-hand position of the sensor holder, ensuring the groove aligns with the tab at the top of the holder.
    • Install a sensor plug if a sensor is not being installed.

    Sensor Filter Replacement

    • Carefully remove old filters, taking care not to damage the case.
    • Peel off the backing of new filters, exposing the adhesive.
    • Apply the filters to the inside of the front case, ensuring proper orientation.

    Reinstalling Sensors

    • Reinstall the sensor gasket in the case front, ensuring it is properly installed.
    • Reinstall the screws.
    • If a sensor channel was deactivated, turn it ON in the sensor setup.
    • Calibrate the instrument after sensors have stabilized for at least 30 minutes.

    Warning

    • Calibration is required after a sensor is installed; otherwise, the instrument will not perform as expected, and users may face serious personal injury or death.

    Cleaning and Storage

    • Clean the exterior regularly with a damp cloth, avoiding cleaning agents.
    • Store the instrument in a safe, dry place between 65°F and 86°F (18°C and 30°C) when not in use.
    • Always recheck instrument calibration before use after storage.

    Troubleshooting

    • Refer to the troubleshooting table for error codes and reactions.
