Purpose and Scope
- Establishes a uniform method for compensating full-time and part-time firefighters
- Yearly compensation figures are based on average hours worked in a calendar year multiplied by hourly and overtime rates
- Components of this guideline apply to firefighters who meet eligibility requirements
Years of Service
- Employees hired prior to 05/23/18 have a service anniversary date of January 1 of each new year
- Employees hired after 05/23/2018 have a service anniversary date determined by years continuously employed with the District
Seniority
- Viewed as a privilege, not taking precedence over the mission of the District
- The Fire Chief regulates the application of seniority
- Seniority includes experience, competency levels, rank, and length of time in a specific position
Hourly Rate of Pay and Yearly Compensation
- Full-time and part-time shift personnel have an hourly base pay rate and an hourly overtime pay rate
- Pay rates can be found on paycheck documents through the District's online payroll contractor
- Shift personnel are compensated in accordance with Section 207(k) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
Full-Time Firefighter Ranks and Pay Grades
