- Continuing airworthiness is the process of ensuring an aircraft, engine, propeller, or part meets airworthiness requirements and remains safe throughout its operational life.
- Major modifications, which can affect weight, balance, structural strength, performance, or other airworthiness qualities and are not listed for the aircraft, engine, or propeller, cannot be done by elementary operation.
- An AMO's capability list is valid for 2 years.
- A capability list includes an AMO's ratings, tools, facilities, materials, technical data, and trained personnel.
- A Certificate of Return to Service is issued by authorized certifying staff when all required aircraft maintenance has been properly completed per the Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM).
- There are 3 types of Airworthiness Directives (AD): Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NRPM), Final rule/Final rule with request for comments, and Emergency AD.
- Updating ATC navigational software databases is considered preventive maintenance.
