Study Notes

Propeller Governing

  • BETA range is related to propeller governing

SVFR Responsibilities

  • In SVFR, the pilot is responsible for avoiding obstacles and other traffic

Flight Planning

  • Maximum range out of different flight levels can be calculated using SGR=GS/FF and SAR=TAS/FF
  • Example: At FL350, SGR is 0.17

Aircraft Systems

  • In case of smoke, the oxygen control should be set to 100% oxygen

Communication

  • When an aircraft is at an uncontrolled airport with no ground station, the pilot should use 126.7 and then change to MF/ATF

Runway Distances

  • TORA (Takeoff Run Available) is the distance available for takeoff
  • TORA + STOPWAY = ASDA (Accelerate-Stop Distance Available)
  • TORA + CWY (Clearway) = TODA (Takeoff Distance Available)
  • Example: TORA distances include 9800' and 10800'

Weight and Balance

  • Weight shift is 360 degrees
