47 Armoured Regiment: Sarvatra Vijay
- Formed on November 15, 1982, in Babina, India.
- Located in rocky, dry terrain of Bundelkhand.
- Home to the White Tiger Division.
- Initially housed three armoured brigades: 2 Armoured Brigade, 27 Armoured Brigade, and 34 Armoured Brigade.
- 2 Armoured Brigade was the oldest, having served in WWII and received the battle honour "Fleur-de-Lis".
- Equipped with T-72 tanks, imported from Russia.
- Mechanised infantry units used APCs and BMP-1s from Russia.
- First Commandant was Colonel Tejvir Singh Sirohi.
- Second-in-command was Maj Prince Jit Singh Sandhu, from 8 CAV.
- Risaldar Satpal Singh, from 20 Lancers, also served.
- Equipped with Russian-made T-72 tanks.
- First puja ceremony on November 25, 1982.
- Officers, JCOs and ORs arrived starting November 10, 1982.
- Regimental HQ established near a large banyan tree.
Formation and Initial Operations
- Army HQ issued order for raising on October 15, 1982.
