    • Cases requiring decalcification or electron microscopy (EM) and muscle and nerve biopsies should be completed within three weeks.
    • To allow for retrieval of cases by diagnosis and other parameters, surgical pathology reports are entered directly into CoPathPlus (CPP).
    • Autopsy reports and record retention are based on the final autopsy report, which is produced within 60 working days in 90% of the cases.
    • Wet tissue from non-forensic cases is retained for at least 3 months after completion of the final report; wet tissue from forensic cases is retained indefinitely.
    • Paraffin blocks are maintained for 10 years after completion of the final report.
    • Glass slides are maintained for 10 years after completion of the final report.
    • All pathology residents are required to keep track of the number of reports they complete.
